For all those out there who are living gluten-free due to celiac intolerance, today is for you! The U.S. Senate passed a resolution in 2006 declaring that September 13th is National Celiac Disease Awareness Day here in the United States. This particular day was chosen because it is the birthday of Dr. Samuel Gee, who was a pioneer in celiac disease research. Dr. Gee is known for being the first person to discover a link between celiac disease and diet.
Even though gluten-free options are becoming more widely available, this holiday is important because many still do not know where and how to live gluten-free. Today is the day to get your family, friends, and perhaps even your community involved in learning more about celiac disease and living gluten-free!
In honor of National Celiac Disease Awareness Day, we want to tell you about one of our upcoming titles that we think will be a big hit with people who are living gluten-free. Let's Eat Out Around the World Gluten Free and Allergy Free, Fourth Edition: Eat Safely in Any Restaurant at Home or Abroad is written by Kim Koeller and Robert La France, who combine first-hand knowledge of living with celiac disease and much experience in the restaurant industry.
